GREAT EXPEDITION
FROM EAST TO WEST KALIMANTAN
18 Days/ 17 Nights
Cross the island from east kalimantan to west kalimantan about 2000 Km
"The call of adventure is heard loud and clear here, explore the Mahakam and
the Kapuas rivers, trekking through the tropical rain forest, wild water
river, flora and fauna, and feel the spirit of Dayak’s life, challenges you
to be a real adventurer".
Day 01: BALIKPAPAN - LOA JANAN - MAHAKAM RIVER
Upon arrival at Sepinggan, meeting service and directly transferred  car to
Loa Janan, approximately 2 hours, then boarding the houseboat, for exciting
adventure on the Mahakam River. The facilities on board are simple yet
adequate. While the upper deck is used for sitting and sleeping, the lower
deck is used for saloon during the day and converted to a sleeping deck at
night. The cook on board prepares all meals. B, L, D and overnight on
board.
Day 02: MUARA MUNTAI - MANCONG - TANJUNG ISUY - MAHAKAM RIVER
Sightseeing in Muara Muntai, an interesting village which road is made of
ironwood, then after lunch proceed to Tanjung Isuy by motorized canoe
crossing Lake Jempang, one of the three largest lakes in Kalimantan. Lunch
enroute then upon arrival, a traditional welcome ceremony is held, then
followed by traditional dances of Dayak Benuaq Tribe. Return to houseboat
then proceed to Melak. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 03: MELAK - KERSIK LUWAY - PEPAS EHENG - TERING
After b'fast leaving the houseboat by car for Kersik luway, natural orchid
forest then continue to Pepas Eheng Village, an old long house where you can
observe their daily activities. Picnic lunch enroute then return to
houseboat in Melak. Proceeding to Tering, village of Bahau Tribe, by
houseboat; dinner and overnight on board.
Day 04: TERING - DATAH BILANG - RUKUN DAMAI
If the water level is low, the trip will be continue to Rukun Damai by long
boats or motorized canoes, with a short visit in Datah Bilang. Picnic lunch
enroute, dinner and overnight at long house or local house.
Day 05: RUKUN DAMAI - LONG MELAHAM - LONG BAGUN
Traditional dances of Kenyah Dayak will be performed then continues to Long
Bagun. On the way you will have exciting scenery, when passing Long
Melaham and late afternoon you will reach Long Bagun. Meals are prepared and
overnight on the houseboat or home stay.
Day 06: LONG BAGUN - MAHAKAM RAPIDS - TIONG OHANG
After early breakfast, departure by longboat cruise up Mahakam River you
will experience the thirteen rapids with seven pretty major ones and a nice
waterfall in Kenehe. Early evening you will reach Tiong Ohang.
Day 07: IN HAND
Day 08: TIONG OHANG - SEI ARAMET - SEI SAITE
Departure by longboat or motorized canoe on low season, passing several
white water rapids approximately 2 hours you will reach Sei Hubung. Needed
all necessary supplies by porters accompanying in your trip up land dry rice
field then tropical rain forest. Typically five hours walking today plus
break is envisage enough. Meals to be prepared and overnight in bivouac type
shelter of wood and water proof awning.
Day 09: SEI SAITE - TEKOHONGANE - MUARA CUTING
The journey will be continued through the tropical rain forest, a dip in the
river, a rest to be taken and surrounding to be examined an investigation of

time. Typically 7 hours walking today. At night the guide will introduce you

Day 10: MUARA CUTING - MULLER RANGE

Day 14: BERAKANG - SEI BULIT - TANJUNG LOKANG

Day 15: TANJUNG LOKANG - PUTUS SIBAU

Day 16: PUTUS SIBAU - SINTANG
Leave Putus Sibau by non air conditioner bus, 6 hours approximately 240 kms
to Sintang. Lunch will be served at local restaurant dinner and overnight at
Flamboyan Hotel.
Day 17: SINTANG - PONTIANAK
Departure by air conditioner bus 8 hours approximately 400 kms to reach
Pontianak, via Sanggau, Ngabang and Coast of Sei Pinyuh and palm olive
plantation. Crossing the equator road relatively good. Lunch will be served
at local restaurant, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 18: PONTIANAK - BATAM
After breakfast, transfer to Supadio Airport for flight by Merpati to Batam
further by ferryboat to Singapore.

Day 1 : BALIKPAPAN - MAHAKAM RIVER
On arrival at Balikpapan, well known as an oil-city is also the gateway to
the Dayak's Land. With over 400.000 inhabitants which are mostly new
comers, Balikpapan has grown to be 'The Leading Giant! in Indonesia’s
economic. Then you’ll be transferred to the Harapan Baru to board the
houseboat. Cruising up for Muara Muntai, passing some coal-mines and small
timber companies en route, but the most interesting thing you will
experiences is, their daily life on the river, where they have been leading
their lives since they were born and as long as they live. Dinner and
overnight on board.
Day 2 : MUARA MUNTAI - TANJUNG ISUY
After breakfast leaving the house-boat for sight seeing at Muara Muntai, a
small town of Kutai people which even the road is made of ironwood. Return
to houseboat for lunch then leaving to Tanjung Isuy, crossing the
grassy-lake of Jempang by motorized canoe to visit the Dayak Benuaq tribe.
Upon arrival at Tanjung Isuy you’ll be traditionally welcomed by the Dayak
people, followed by their traditional dances. Dinner and overnight at the
long house.
Day 3 : TANJUNG ISUY - TENGGARONG
After an early breakfast leaving for Mancong village to visit the grand
long house of the Benuaq tribe. Lunch picnic en route then return to the
houseboat at Muara Muntai then cruise down the river for Tenggarong. Dinner
and overnight on board.
Day 4 : TENGGARONG - BALIKPAPAN
After breakfast, visiting the museum which used to be the palace of Sultan
Kutai Kertanegara and displays royal heirlooms, Dayak woodcarvings,
traditional woven clothes, etc. return to the house-boat then cruise down
the river for the Harapan Baru. Lunch enroute then transferred to
Balikpapan. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 : BALIKPAPAN - AIRPORT
You’ll be transferred to the airport for your next destination after
breakfast.

TANJUNG PUTING "ORANG UTAN" Code: TRT 6
6 days / 5 nights
Day 1 : ARRIVAL - BANJARMASIN
On arrival at Samsudinnoor, airport of Banjarmasin, you'll be transferred
to the hotel. As the capital city of South Kalimantan that inhabited by
600.000 people, this city has turned out to the biggest and the most
populated city in Kalimantan.
Day 2 : BANJARMASIN - PANGKALAN BUN - RIMBA LODGE
After b-fast, you’ll be transferred to the airport, for flight to Pangkalan
Bun. Due to the small aircraft, passenger only allowed to bring max 10 kg
luggage. On arrival at Pangkalan Bun you’ll be transferred to Kumai to
catch up the boat.
Overnight at Rimba Lodge.
Day 3 : RIMBA LODGE - CAMP LEKAY
After b'fast, we will visit Orang Utan at Tanjung Harapan and Camp Lekay. It
is the opportunity to observe their way of life and the nature where they
live. Also we have time to watch the feeding time.
Overnight at Rimba Lodge.
Day 4 : CAMP LEKAY - PANGKALAN BUN
Wake up early in the morning and then prepare to visit Orang Utan at Pondok
Tanduy, here you can get more closer to the Orang Utan. After lunch you'll
be transferred to Kumai and arrived at Pangkalan Bun at noon.
Overnight at Kecubung Hotel.
Day 5 : PANGKALAN BUN - BANJARMASIN
After b-fast you'll be transferred to the airport to catch up the flight to
Banjarmasin.
Overnight at Arum Hotel.
Day 6 : BANJARMASIN - AIRPORT
Prepare for everything after b-fast and then you’ll be transferred to
Samsudinnoor, airport of Banjarmasin, for your next destination.

Day 1 : BALIKPAPAN

Day 2 : BALIKPAPAN - MUARA KOMAM
After b-fast we go to Muara Komam by car. First crossing Balikpapan Bay,
then directly proceed to Muara Komam, which takes about 4 hours drive.
You’ll see palm oil plantation along the road, somewhat further inside but
still can be seen from the main road. Muara komam is a village, surrounded
by tropical rain forest. With over 6.000 inhabitants, most of them are
newcomers from the southern part.
Dinner and overnight at a simple accommodation, Rotan Timur.
Day 3 : JUNGLE TRIP
Set off for a jungle trip after b-fast. It will take half an hour by car
then walk through the tropical rain forest to the waterfall. Afterwards,
return to Rotan Timur for lunch. Late in afternoon we’ll be going on a
river-tour on to Kandilo River, where we can see a lot of monkeys jumping
around on the trees along the river. Dinner and overnight at Rotan Timur.
Day 4 : MUARA KOMAM - BARABAI
After lunch leaving Muara Komam for Barabai, which takes about 4 hours
drive. Many rubber plantations along the road, somewhat further inside but
still can be seen from the main road.
Dinner and overnight at Fusfa Hotel.
Day 5 : BARABAI - BAMBOO RAFTING
After b-fast we go to Lumpangi village by car, where our bamboo raft is
waiting. After rafting down stream about 2 hours, make a stop for lunch
(picnic lunch). Then go on rafting again and afterward we continue walking
in the jungle, passing the village.
Dinner and overnight at Fusfa Hotel.
Day 6 : BARABAI - BANJARMASIN
Leaving for Martapura after b-fast to visit diamond polishing and its
workshops, then continue to Cempaka village to observe the local people
using traditional tools and methods to find diamonds. Lunch at local
restaurant enroute.
Overnight at Arum Hotel.
Day 7 : BANJARMASIN - OUT
Early in the morning, after b-fast you'll be transferred to Kuin River, to
experience the lives on the river Venice of Indonesia by traditional
motorized canoe which called “Klotok”, passing houses that were built on
the stilt along the river, as well as floating houses, then to the floating
market on Barito River. Afterwards, you’ll be transferred to the airport
for your next destination.
