Information about Sumba
Pasola is a thanks giving ceremony to the ancestral spirit of people
from West Sumba East Nusa Tenggara. More then 50 men riding horses
which divided into two groups – from upper and lower villages. Before they
start, the Rato ( Traditional priest leader ) Prays in between of two groups,
then he throw a spear to start the game. Immediately followed by those horse
riders race their horse and throw their spears toward the opponent over and
over. This is a blood sacrifice…..!
This ceremony happen only once in a year ( FEBRUARY and MARCH ) and date
could not be predicted in advance, it is always not in the same date every
year. It depends on RATO’S decision which is announced one or two weeks before.

Day 01 DENPASAR-TAMBULAKA-WAIKABUBAK
(West Sumba )
On arrival at Airport of Tambulaka / Wingapu , our guide will meet you and transfer
to your hotel . Afternoon city tour visit; traditional market and villages
nearby the city of Waikabubak such as: Puunaga, Tarung and WAI TABAR to see
stone graves and traditional houses Of Sumbanese . Return to the hotel.
Day 02 WAIKABUBAK-KODI FULL DAY TOUR
Early morning breakfast at hotel, drive to Kodi Besar about 2,5 hours for
PASOLA. Direct to the beach to see ceremony of catching sea worm by the RATO,
then back to the field for attending the Pasola During theDay. Lunch box will
be provided. Afternoon,return to your hotel.
Day 03 WAIKABUBAK-LAMBOYA
Early morning breakfast at hotel, drive to Lamboya about 1 hour to attend
another PASOLA. Lunch box will be provided in the beach. Afternoon Return to
hotel and free at leisure.
Day 04 WAIKABUBAK-TAMBULAKA-DENPASAR
After Breakfast at your hotel , Transfer to Tambulaka Airport to catch
flight for your next destination

Day 01 Denpasar- Tambulaka - West Sumba
Upon arrive at Tambulaka Airport / West Sumba , you are welcome by our
representative then transfer to Hotel for check in . In the afternoon Visit Prai Ijing,
Tarong And Waitabar Village near by Waikabubak, down to Local market of
Waikabubak and stop at Algadri Artshop ( Best Collection of Sumba Antique in
the City, return to hotel for afternoon coffee and overnight .
Day 02 Waikabubak-Kodi Full day Kodi
After breakfast at Hotel Drive to Kodi Area for Visit: Tosi Village, Parona
baroro Village, Rotenggaro Village and Wainyapu Vilage, this place to see all
the house are very high roof more than ten meters high. Lunch box will prepare
on the beach, afternoon return to Hotel via Waiha, Tanah Teke Area, here along
the way back to hotel we witness the Coffee plantation , dinner and over night
at Hotel.
Day 03 Waikabubak-Wanukaka-Lamboya
After breakfast at hotel trip to Wanukaka for Visit Waigali Village to See the
Andung ( Scoultree ) Praigoli Village to See the kajiwa Stone and Pasola Field,
return to Marosi Beach on the Way stop at Kadengar Village, in this area the
traditional houses are on the hilltop, lunch box will prepare at Marosi Beach,
and relax afternoon return to Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 04 Waikabubak-Tambulaka
Airport-Denpasar
After breakfast at Hotel, check out to Tambulaka Airport to cutch your flight
