Flores & Komodo


Flores island reached by The Portugese in the 15th Century gave the name Flores. '' means flowers, not by the Flowers grow on the land, but  the sea flowers, coral, fishes and other marine lifes. The most beautiful coral reefs occur on the northern coast and western of the Island. Visit one of Flores’ traditional villages to gain insights on local culture and the daily lives of local residents. Friendly and welcoming villagers are eager to share their traditions and folklore with international visitors.

The Three Colored Lakes of Kelimutu volcano is the most attarctive site of the land as the wonder of tourist destinations. Each lake is a different color: blue, green and black. Other attractions include spectacular hand-woven textiles of Maumere, Ende-Lio, Ngada, the traditional megalithic village of Bena and other traditional villages in Ngada regency (Central Flores), and "Komodo dragons". This Island is home to hundreds of different ethnic groups who speak scores of languages, and is a sort of transition point between the Malay and Papuan races. The endogenous Komodo dragons are the iconic mascots of West Flores. Komodo and its surrounding islands were designated as a National Park in 1980. 6D Komodo & Flores

Day 1 DENPASAR-LABUANBAJO-RINCA
Morning flight to Labuanbajo. On arrival direct transfer to the harbor to get on board a local boat to Rinca Island. Afternoon trekking in Rinca Island to see the Komodo dragons and other wild animals. Dinner and overnight are on boat.

Day 2 RINCA-KOMODO-PINK BEACH-LABUANBAJO
Early morning sailing to Komodo Island. After trekking to Banunggulung in Komodo Island to see the activities of Komodo dragons in their pure environment. Then proceed to Pink Beach for snorkeling and swimming. Then return to Labuan Bajo. Afternoon arriving in Labuan Bajo and direct transfer to your hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at Bintang Flores Hotel****
Day 3 LABUANBAJO-RUTENG
After breakfast drive to Ruteng with stops in Cancar to view the spider web style rice terraces and Ruteng Puu traditional village. Late afternoon arriving in Rueng and check in at Dahlia Hotel for dinner and ovenight.
Day 4 RUTENG-BAJAWA (
Morning visiting the local market then proceed to Bajawa with stops in Rana Meze Lake and Aimere to see the locals making palm wine. Afternoon arriving in Bajawa and check in at Bintang Wisata Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 BAJAWA-MONI
Morning visiting Wawo Muda to see twin color lakes. Then drive to Moni with stops et Bena megalitchic village, Boawae and Wolotopo traditional villlage. Afternoon arriving in Moni and check in at Flores Sare Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 MONI-KELIMUTU-ENDE-DENPASAR (
Early morning visiting Kelimutu to see its picturesque three color lakes. After breakfast drive to Ende. On arrival visit Ende local market and Soekarno Museum. After lunch transfer to the airport for your flight back to Denpasar, Bali.

7Days Flores & Komodo


Day 01 : Bali - Maumere
Depart from Bali by Merpati Nusantara Airlines flight to Maumere in Flores Island. Upon arrival at Waioti airport of Maumere, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city sightseeing will be made afterward. Dinner and Overnight at Sea World Club or similar.

Day 02 : Maumere - Moni
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Moni through a scenic area of Paga, Wolowaru and Jopu Ranggase. Lunch will be served at local restaurant in Wolowaru. Then proceed to Moni to check in at Flores Sare Inn or similar. Dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 03 : Moni - Kelimutu - Bajawa
Early morning drive up to Kelimutu, see the three colored lakes. Upon arrival. walk 1,5km to view the spectacular of the Hard Red, light blue and black color of the Kelimutu lake. Down to Moni, proceed to Bajawa with stop at Ropa for a pure beach and also witness how the locals sells their commodity at the local market. Here you will also find that the barter system still exist.  Dinner and overnight stay at Bintang Wisata Hotel or similar.

Day 04 : Bajawa - Bena - Ruteng
After breakfast at hotel, excursion to Bena passing through huge and gigantic bamboo plantation, picture Inerie volcano and take short walks in the vicinity. Arrive in Bena, see traditional houses and megalithic tombs, learn the meaning of Ngadhu and Bhaga, symbolizing male and female of ancestral spirits. Continue the trip with en-route viewing the beauty of Mount Inerie, then Ranames Lake. The process of making palm wine could be seen at Airmere. Lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at Wisma Dahlia at Ruteng.

Day 05 :  Ruteng - Labuan Bajo - Komodo
After an early breakfast, depart for a halfday trek to Mount Ranaka. During the active condition, instead of trekking we will replace the program with visiting local market, Ruteng Pu traditional village, then Cancar and Lembor irrigation area. Lunch en-route. Arrive at Labuan Bajo, direct to the harbor to aboard a wooden boat leaving for Komodo island. In the early evening arrive at Komodo port. Overnight on board.

Day 06 : Komodo - Labuan Bajo
After breakfast, start the exploration of the island by half an hour walk to Banunggulung to see the Komodo dragon, the largest monitor lizards in the world, in their natural habitat. The island is also home to the mound-building megapode bird, the sulfur-crested cockatoo, the noisy friar bird and tropical flora. Return to the harbor for sailing back to Labuan Bajo with lunch on board. Stop at Pink Beach relax, swim, snorkel. In the afternoon sail back to Labuan Bajo. Dinner and overnight at Bajo Eco Lodge.

Day 07 : Labuan Bajo - Denpasar (Bali)
After breakfast, transfer to airport to catch flight leaving for Denpasar Bali.


Flores & Komodo 9 Days/ 8 nights

Day 01 : Bali - Maumere

Day 02 : Maumere - Moni

Early morning drive up to Kelimutu, see the three colored lakes. Upon arrival. walk 1,5km to view the spectacular of the Hard Red, light blue and black color of the Kelimutu lake. Down to Moni, proceed to Riung with stop at Ropa for a pure beach and also witness how the locals sells their commodity at the local market. Here you will also find that the barter system still exist. (Specially for the group will stop at Welambasa to wetness the traditional dance performance and also the process of the traditional wedding ceremony in this local village. You will also enjoy lunch with head of the tribes and also able to see the elementary school in the remote area). For the regular Fits program we will served lunch box. Late afternoon drive to Riung via northern part of the island while enjoying the spectacular picturesque area   Dinner and overnight at PONDOK SVD or similar

Day 04 : Riung
After breakfast, sail to Pulau Tujuh Belas (Seventeen islands) spreading just a few step from the mainland of Riung in Flores island. This is the nature preservation. Enjoy snorkel in enormous "aquarium" siesta on white sandy beach of Pulau Rutong, take short walks circling the island. Picnic lunch at Rutong beach. Sail to Pulau Kalong, see myrids of bat colony hanging over mangroves tree. Late afternoon return sailing to Riung mainland. Dinner and overnight stay at Pondok SVD Riung.

Day 05 : Riung - Bajawa
After breakfast, again we will make the same itinerary as day 04th visiting the seventeen islands to enjoy the beautiful of underwater exploration on the small islands in the northern of Flores. In the afternoon return to Riung Mainland and proceed to Bajawa. Dinner and overnight stay at Kembang hotel or similar

Day 06 : Bajawa - Bena - Ruteng

Day 08 : Komodo - Labuan Bajo

Day 1 DENPASAR-MAUMERE-MONI
Morning flight to Maumere. On arrival transfer to a local restaurant for lunch. Then proceed to Moni with stops in Wolowaru village. Late afternoon arriving in Moni. Dinner and overnight at Flores Sare Hotel or similar

Day 2 MONI-KELIMUTU-MAUMERE
Early morning driving up to Mt. Kelimutu to see its picturesque colored lakes and the sunrise. After breakfast driving back to Maumere with stops in Jopu traditional village, Sikka weaving village and Wuring fishermen village. Late afternoon arriving in Maumere and check in at Flores Sao Resort or similar.

Day 3 MAUMERE-DENPASAR
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back to Bali


 Flores Cultural Tours

4 days/3 nights


Day 01: DENPASAR - MAUMERE
Your afternoon program is visiting Watublapi, a hamlet about 18 km south east of Maumere locally known for it's fertile land and rich in exotic tropical plants and fruits. You will be entertained with dances and folk songs accompanied with local dishes and drinks. There is chance for you to comprehend more about Ikat Weaving - the well-known tie-dyeing weaving technique. The Ikat are both as cultural and economical products since the women in the village earn their living from selling the Ikat.
Day 02: MAUMERE - MONI or DETUSOKO
There are places around the town worth to be visited, such as Maumere market, Wuring - the fisherman village with houses built on stilts and Ledalero Museum. Lunch will be provided in Paga Beach Restaurant or in Wolowaru. During the day you will experience the dramatic change in both nature pattern and ethnicity. In the afternoon you will find yourself in the Lio ethnic's environment. Pay a call to their villages (such as in Lisedetu with traditional Houses) and try to comprehend the local's daily life or just having a closer look into their work of architectures.

Day 03 :DETUSOKO/MONI - KELIMUTU - MAUMERE
It is worth to experience the sunrise at Kelimutu - the three colored crater lakes. You will begin your day early in the morning (start at about 4 .00 o'clock). Once you arrive in Kelimutu you will find yourself something like nowhere, incomparable with known told stories - photos or even moving pictures you have seen before. After admiring the nature wonder drive down hill and visit some villages (Koanara and Ranggase with traditional houses) to get yourself in traditional surroundings to comprehend the Lio ethnic's daily and to understand their work of civilization. Such as the typical Lio House, some of them are decorated with breast figure as to symbolize the fertility and prosperity. The Lio people also well known for the Ikat weaving - the tie-dyeing weaving technique. Afternoon return to Maumere.

Day 04: MAUMERE - DENPASAR
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Bali or next destination

5Days Flores Overland


Day LABUANBAJO-RUTENG
After lunch a local restaurant for lunch. Then drive to Ruteng with stops in Cancar to view the spider web style rice terraces and Ruteng Puu traditional village. Late afternoon arriving in Rueng and check in at Dahlia Hotel for dinner and ovenight.

6D Flores Overland
DAY 01 : LABUAN BAJO - RUTENG
On arrival at Airport of Labuan Bajo, our guide will meet you then transfer to explore the distinct tribes in Flores Island (Mangarai, Bajawa,  Lio,  Sikka  etc.), Drive overland to Ruteng - a cool and small town as the capital city of Manggarai Regency where major Mangarainese tribe  dwelt. On the way stops will be made at Lembor and Cancar where you can enjoy the beautiful panorama of rice fields with lush and dry hills as the back ground, and other places according to local happenings. On arrival direct check-in at HOTEL DAHLIA or similar. Onto Ruteng Puu - Manggarainese traditional village to see their unique slander-shaped houses and be with local people. Return to hotel.

DAY 02 : RUTENG - BAJAWA
Breakfast at hotel Continue drive to the East to Bajawa - another cool and small town as a capital city of Ngada Regency (home of Ngada and Nagekeo tribes). Stops will be made "Ranamese" Lake, and snapshot at magnificent peak of Mt. Inerie - an active volcano and Aimere for having lunch. On arrival at Bajawa drive 2 km to Boloji to attend dance performance of Bajawanese   followed by "Suling"  - cluster of Bamboo flute concert music. Return to BINTANG WISATA HOTEL for accommodation and meals.

DAY 03 : BAJAWA
Breakfast at hotel. Explore traditional village of Bajawa tribes. Visit Bena - a megalithic village where people do preserve their ancestral spirits believed and way of life, which can be seen in their "Ngadhu" and "Bhaga".  That are conical thatched roof huts symbolized their Male and Female ancestral spirits. On the way stop on the slope of Inerie active volcano for taking pictures. Return to Bajawa for Lunch at Local Restaurant. Afternoon drive to the North to Soa sub district to see Masu, Seso and Mude traditional village. Onto Mengeruda - a natural hot spring water for relaxing and taking bath.. Return  to hotel.

DAY 04 : BAJAWA - DETUSOKO
Breakfast at hotel. Continue drive overland for 5 hours to Detusoko (175 km) through scenic road where you can enjoy beautiful panorama of the valley with sea as the background. Stops will be made at Wogo, another traditional Bajawanese village and  Boawae - village of Nagekeo tribes to observe their tradition and culture, Ende for having lunch at a local restaurant, Onekore village - the center of  "Ikat" hand-weaving with Endenese typical style. Proceed to Detusoko. Accommodation and meals at Missionary GuestHouses - ST. FRANCISKUS.

DAY 05 : DETUSOKO - KELIMUTU - MAUMERE
After an early morning breakfast at 5.30 drive up to Kelimutu  volcano to see the  three colored  lakes. Upon  arrival walk for 1,5 km and then  ascend 127 steps  to top  to view Kelimutu's green, blue and black lakes. A Dutch Geologist discovered Kelimutu in 1914; at the time the lakes were red,  blue and white. Descend to Moni village to view beautiful hand woven clothes and to visit Kowanara village famous for its traditional Lionese houses. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Paga Beach. . Proceed to Maumere with several stops made according to local happenings. Accommodation and meals at FLORES SAO RESORT or SEA WORLD CLUB.

DAY 06 : MAUMERE - OUT
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the Airport to depart for  your next destination. (B)
